I've been thinking of the glove analogy in regards to good works, a subject that confuses so many. The sturdiest, most useful set of work gloves are incapable of doing any good work apart from the worker's hand, just as human beings are incapable of doing the work of God without being infused by the Holy Spirit. There are no good works apart from God for all good works are of God.

I would not want to be standing before God on Judgement Day as an empty pair of gloves trusting my eternal fate on works that I was never able to accomplish in the first place.

I very much enjoyed this post. I'm not familiar with this author, but J.Vernon was definitely not a pair of empty gloves! His messages are as fresh today as they were decades ago when he preached them.

Thanks for sharing that. I've heard the Body of Christ referred to as hands before, but never gloves. That makes perfect sense! When I view the analogy of the glove, I see a lifeless form until the hand reaches into it.

You know what this analogy also brought to mind? The ventriloquist and dummy (man, we could go a LOT of places with that one! :oP ) But it's sort of the same principal. ALthough the dummy has the features, it cannot do anything, until the Ventriloquist puts his hand in the dummy's back, works the mechanism, and provides the voice for the dummy.

Interesting anaology... thanks for sharing Maj.'s book. Other than the preface for CC, I've never read any of it.
